Sweep, Attempt, or Failure?

The same wick through the same level means three different things depending on where price closes. Say what happened and get the verdict, plus what it does and does not permit.

1 · What did price do at the boundary?

2 · And on the bars after it?

The rule underneath this. The wick defines the level — it is where the resting orders actually sat, and where a breakout has to reach to find fuel. The close delivers the verdict. Keeping both, and using each for its own job, resolves nearly every argument about whether something "was a breakout". Measured base rates come from 489 breakout attempts across 490 SPY sessions; costs are not included.
